Es macht dabei keinen Unterschied, ob es überhaupt mit dem Notebook verbunden ist oder allein sein Dasein an der Steckdose fristet. 6:34 pm	ASUS F3Sr Akku ASUS F3Se Akku hochglänzende OberflächenObwohl die Gehäusequalität nicht das Niveau eines Pavilion dv7 oder Envy 17 erreicht, geht das Chassis für 500 Euro total in Ordnung. Wie die meisten Konkurrenten vertraut HP komplett auf Kunststoff, was man dem Gerät bei näherer Betrachtung deutlich anmerkt. Nichtsdestotrotz ist die Materialanmutung solide, auch die Verarbeitung gibt bis auf kleinere Details kaum Grund zur Kritk (der Übergang zwischen Displayrahmen und Deckel könnte feiner sein). ASUS F3Sr Akku Weniger überzeugen konnte uns das empfindliche Hochglanz-Finish. ASUS F3Sv Akku Gerade auf dem Deckel und der Tastaturumgebung wimmelt es bald von Staubpartikeln und Fingerabdrücken. Da ein Großteil der Oberflächen in einem schicken Grauton gehalten ist, werden die Verschmutzungen aber gut kaschiert. Abgesehen vom recht wackligen Monitor würden wir die Notebook-Stabilität als passabel bezeichnen. Die Oberseite gibt lediglich bei kräftigerem Druck nach, und das auch nur im Laufwerks- und Akkubereich. ASUS F3SV-A1 Akku Die Scharniere sind derweil relativ straff eingestellt, was beim Aufklappen zu einem Mitschwingen der Baseunit führt (zum Öffnen muss man beide Hände verwenden). Untergrunderschütterungen rufen dennoch ein merkliches Wippen der Anzeige hervor. Eine Größe von 412 x 268 x 37 mm und ein Gewicht von 2.8 kg sind reichlich unspektakulär, die meisten 17-Zöller kommen auf ähnliche Werte. ASUS F3T Akku Bei den Verbindungsmöglichkeiten setzt HP den Rotstift an. Wer einen ExpressCard-Einschub, einen FireWire-, eSATA- oder USB-3.0-Port haben will, muss sich nach einer Alternative umsehen. ASUS F3Tc Akku Mehr als übliche Standardkost wird dem Käufer nicht geboten. Beginnen wir mit der rechten Seite, die neben dem obligatorischen Laufwerk über ein Kensington Lock, den Stromeingang und einen USB-2.0 -Port verfügt. Die meisten Anschlüsse findet man auf der linken Seite. Der RJ-45 Fast-Ethernet-LAN-Port (kein Gigabit-LAN!) wird von zwei Bildausgängen (VGA & HDMI), zwei Sound- respektive USB-2.0-Ports und einem Kartenleser (SD & MMC) ergänzt. Vorder- und Rückseite bleiben frei. ASUS F3U Akku   Großer Pluspunkt der Low-End-Komponenten ist ihr moderater Energieverbrauch. Selbst bei stärkerer Belastung gibt sich das Notebook mit 40 bis 60 Watt zufrieden. Im Idle-Betrieb reichen dem Pavilion g7-1353eg sogar 11 bis 17 Watt. Trotz flotterer Hardware weist das Acer Aspire 7560G einen ähnlichen Strombedarf auf. Sony VGP-BPL5A Bei der Akkulaufzeit wäre definitiv mehr drin gewesen. Ein 6-Zellen-Akku mit 47 Wh mag in der Branche üblich sein, für lange Ausflüge taugt ein derartiges Modell jedoch nicht. Wie viele andere Multimedianer kommt das HP-Notebook im Classic Test von Battery Eater auf lediglich eine Stunde (maximale Helligkeit). Sony VGP-BPS5 Unter normalen Bedingungen erhöht sich die Laufzeit merklich. Einen DVD-Film können Sie beispielsweise knapp zwei Stunden genießen, drahtloses Internetsurfen gelingt für rund drei Stunden. Im Optimalfall (keine Belastung, minimale Helligkeit, CrossFire off) wird der Akku erst nach über fünf Stunden leer. Dennoch verschenkt HP in dieser Kategorie unnötig Potenzial. Sony VGP-BPS5A HP Pavilion g7-1353egDas Pavilion g7-1353eg bietet eine recht gelungene Mischung aus Preis, Leistung und Qualität. Zwar ist der 17-Zöller in keinem Bereich wirklich überragend, dicke Patzer leistet sich der Multimedianer aber kaum. Sony PCGA-BP1N Auf der negativen Seite hätten wir vor allem das mäßige Display. Sony PCGA-BP71 HP verwendet ein blickwinkelabhängiges und stark reflektierendes Billig-Panel, das wie die meisten Konkurrenten mit einer gräulichen Schwarzdarstellung und einem niedrigen Kontrast „punktet“. An der etwas klapprigen Tastatur und der genoppten Touchpad-Oberfläche dürfte auch nicht jeder Gefallen finden. Anschlussausstattung (kein USB 3.0) und Mobilität sind ebenfalls verbesserungswürdig. Sony PCGA-BP7 Trotz LED-Backlight fällt die Helligkeit eher dürftig aus: 173 cd/m² sind unterdurchschnittlich, die meisten Geräte kommen hier auf ungefähr 190-220 cd/m². Der Schwarzwert bewegt sich mit rund 1.0 cd/m² dagegen im Mittelfeld. Während dunkle Bildelemente tagsüber noch halbwegs gesättigt erscheinen, offenbart sich nachts oder in abgedunkelten Räumen ein deutlicher Graustich. Akku HP ProBook 5330m Der Kontrast ist ebenfalls mager, 179:1 zeugen von einem günstigen Panel (gute Modelle schaffen locker über 500:1). Wie unsere Screenshots belegen, darf man auch vom Farbraum keine Wunder erwarten. Im Direktvergleich mit einem hochwertigen Panel würden die Farben recht blass wirken. Die glänzende Oberfläche und die mäßige Leuchtkraft führen zu heftigen Spiegelungen und einem dunklen Bildschirminhalt. Manche Elemente lassen sich nur noch mit Mühe erkennen, ganz zu schweigen von der hohen Augenbelastung. Mobile Nutzer sind bei einem leuchtstarken Non-Glare-Panel wesentlich besser aufgehoben. Akku HP QK648AA Outdoor-Einsatz HP Pavilion g7-1353eg Die Blickwinkel offenbaren sich als durchschnittlich. Während im horizontalen Bereich kleinere Abweichungen noch einigermaßen toleriert werden, kommt es vertikal extrem schnell zu Helligkeitsveränderungen. Was im Office-Betrieb kaum stört, nervt spätestens bei Filmen und Spielen. Akku HP Mini 1103 Als Prozessor hat HP einen günstigen Einsteiger-Quad-Core von AMD gewählt. Der verbaute A6-3420M (Codename Llano) ist dabei keine CPU im klassischen Sinne, sondern vielmehr eine APU (Accelerated Processing Unit), die mehrere Prozessorkerne, einen Grafikchip, den Speichercontroller und weitere Funktionen auf einem Die vereint. Über vier MByte L2-Cache kann die Intel Konkurrenz, welche einen drei bis acht MByte großen L3-Cache bietet, ebenfalls nur lächeln. Ein Herstellungsverfahren von 32 nm ist dagegen auf der Höhe der Zeit. Die Thermal Design Power entspricht mit 35 Watt den meisten Core i5-Modellen. Akku HP 614565-721 Dank der Turbo-Core-Technologie kann sich der A6-3420M von 1.5 auf maximal 2.4 GHz übertakten. Jedenfalls in der Theorie, denn bei unserem Testgerät war unter Last keine Takterhöhung feststellbar. Egal ob ein einzelner oder mehrere Kerne beansprucht wurden: Die APU lief stets mit mageren 1500 MHz. Wenigstens kam es nicht zu einem Throttling (auch im Stresstest). Akku HP ED06 Bei den CPU-Benchmarks tut sich der A6-3420M sogar gegen Intels Zweikern-Modelle schwer. Im Single-Core-Rendering des Cinebench R10 wird dieser Umstand besonders deutlich: Mit 2199 Punkten kann der Prozessor nicht einmal an den billigen Core i3-2310M heranreichen (3446 Punkte @ Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E320). Akku HP ED06066 Bei mehrkern-optimierten Programmen schrumpft die Differenz erheblich: Während der A6-3420M im Multi-Core-Rendering auf 6952 Punkte kommt, bringt es der i3-2310M auf knapp 7400 Punkte. Subjektiv halten sich die Unterschiede jedoch in Grenzen, mit typischen Alltagsaufgaben wie Internet oder Video hat die APU keinerlei Probleme. Akku HP ED06DF Loben können wir HP indes für den geringen Stromverbrauch und die moderaten Emissionen. Sony PCGA-BP71A Egal ob Idle- oder 3D-Betrieb: Der Multimedianer ist nie sonderlich laut respektive warm. Über die Leistung lässt sich leider keine pauschale Aussage treffen. Obwohl zwei Grafikkarten und ein Quad-Core für 500 Euro wirklich beachtlich sind, gibt es im Detail einiges zu bemängeln. So kann AMDs Vierkern-CPU A6-3420M – trotz des modernen Konzepts - nicht mit Intels aktueller Sandy-Bridge-Generation konkurrieren. Sony PCGA-BP71AUC Auch der CrossFire-Modus offenbart zahlreiche Tücken wie Mikroruckler oder eine teils schlechte DirectX-9-Performance. Standard-Notebooks mit nur einer aktiven Grafikkarte sind weniger fehleranfällig und komfortabler in der Wartung. Sony PCGA-BP71CE7 Für Sparfüchse. HP gestaltet das Pavilion g7-1353eg frei nach dem Motto „viel Hardware zum kleinen Preis“. Das knapp 500 Euro günstige Multimedia-Notebook enthält nicht nur einen Quad-Core-Prozessor und zwei Grafikchips, sondern auch eine 750 GByte große HDD und sechs GByte DDR3-RAM. Wer kann diesem Schnäppchen widerstehen? SONY VAIO P(VPCP) akku Die Positionierung der Schnittstellen geht insgesamt in Ordnung, wobei wir uns die Kopfhörer- und Mikrofonbuchse etwas weiter hinten gewünscht hätten.Ohne Kabel kann man natürlich auch in die Weiten des Internets abtauchen. HP integriert ein Funkmodul von Realtek (RTL8188CE), das WLAN b/g/n unterstützt. Bluetooth ist leider nicht an Bord. ASUS F3U-AP099C Akku Wer das WLAN-Modul, den Arbeitsspeicher oder die Festplatte austauschen will, benötigt einen Schraubenzieher und je de Menge Kraft. Bei unserem Testgerät war die Wartungsklappe nämlich sehr fest im Boden verankert. Auf den Lüfter hat man keinen direkten Zugriff, ebenso wenig auf den Prozessor und die Grafikkarte. ASUS M51 Akku Eine saubere Windows Installation ohne jegliche Bloatware dürfen Sie nicht erwarten. HP installiert vor allem firmeneigene Programme, die sich negativ auf die Bootdauer und die Systemgeschwindigkeit auswirken (Pop-Up-Meldungen inklusive). 2:22 pm	HP ProBook 5330m Akku Im Leerlauf hört man primär das konstante Rauschen der Festplatte, welche sich alle paar Sekunden zu einem leichten Klackern hinreißen lässt. Weniger überzeugen konnte das optische Laufwerk, das beim Abspielen einer DVD deutlich hörbar rotiert. Packard Bell sollte hier vielleicht über ein anderes Modell nachdenken.HP ProBook 5330m Akku Um die maximale Temperatur der Komponenten zu ermitteln, haben wir das Notebook für eine Weile mit den Tools Furmark und Prime beschäftigt. Ergebnis: Laut dem CPUID Hardware Monitor pendelt sich Intels Dual-Core auf passable 80 °C ein. Rund 70°C bei der Grafikkarte gehen auch in Ordnung. Ein Throttling, also ein temperaturbedingtes Heruntertakten, konnten wir nicht beobachten – super.HP FN04 Allerdings werden die Gehäuseoberflächen bei Belastung überdurchschnittlich warm. Maximal 42 °C im WASD-Bereich sind auf Dauer etwas unangenehm. Die Handballenauflage kommt mit knapp 40 °C ebenfalls auf eine recht hohe Temperatur. Im Idle-Betrieb ist die Lage wesentlich entspannter. Ober- und Unterseite bleiben mit rund 28 °C halbwegs kühl.HP QK648AA An die klanglichen Qualitäten eines Asus N75SF oder Dell XPS 17 kann das Packard Bell nicht ansatzweise heranreichen. Die beiden Lautsprecher (oberhalb der Tastatur unter einem feinen Gitter) machten auf uns einen dumpfen und kraftlosen Eindruck. Das geringe Volumen, der schwache Bass und die fransigen Stimmen sind nur einige der Negativ-Merkmale. Hinzu kommt eine enttäuschende Lautstärke.HP Mini 1103 Series Akku Ergo: Für häufigeren Medienkonsum empfehlen sich Kopfhörer oder eine externe Anlage. Reicht dies, um einen Kaufpreis von über 700 Euro zu rechtfertigen?HP HSTNN-IB1X 10 Stunden Akkulaufzeit - dabei kann es sich doch nur um ein Netbook handeln? Keineswegs! Mit dem Asus U56E tritt ein einfaches Office-Notebook an, neue Mobilitätsrekorde aufzustellen. Das von straffen Scharnieren gehaltene Display kann nur beidhändig geöffnet werden, wippt bei Erschütterungen aber dennoch mehrere Sekunden nach. Auch wenn die Verwindungssteifigkeit besser als bei vielen Konkurrenten ausfällt, sollte man den Deckel besser mittig und mit vorsichtigem Griff betätigen: Schon eine leichte Berührung mit dem Finger am Displayrahmen genügt, um die Flüssigkristalle des angrenzenden Panels zu beeinflussen und den Bildinhalt zu verfälschen. HP 609881-321 Das erst vor wenigen Wochen getestete Samsung E3520 kann trotz seines deutlich günstigeren Preises problemlos mit dem U56E mithalten. Gemessen am Aufpreis zu anderen Office-Notebooks fehlt uns ein gewisser Mehrwert, den beispielsweise eSATA, DisplayPort oder gar die neue Thunderbolt-Schnittstelle bieten könnten. HP TouchSmart tm2t-1000 Akku Bei der Verteilung der Anschlüsse hat Asus vieles gut, manches aber auch weniger optimal gelöst. HP TouchSmart tm2t Akku Der an der Vorderfront platzierte 4-in-1 Kartenleser (SD/MMC/MS/MS Pro) ist ebenso leicht erreichbar wie die auf der linken und rechten Seite verteilten USB-Ports. Besonders ausladende USB-Sticks können jedoch unter Umständen dazu führen, dass die benachbarten Schnittstellen blockiert werden und somit verloren gehen. Ebenfalls ungünstig sind die sehr weit nach vorne verlagerten Displayausgänge: Besser wäre hier eine Platzierung auf der Rückseite, um die Kabel außerhalb der Arbeitsfläche des Nutzers zu halten. Although the resolution of 1366x768 is perfect for many users, the desire for a higher resolution quickly emerges when multitasking. ( Charger for HP ProBook 4515s Battery ) The competition partly offers a much higher resolution of 1440x900 (Apple) or 1600x900 (Asus). The weak contrast of 136:1 (Z830-10J) is visible in pictures and movies. However, it isn't as annoying as the tight viewing angles in which the rendered picture remains stable. The colors only stay true when standing directly in front of the screen. ( Charger for HP ProBook 4520s Battery ) As typical for the small ultrabooks, a ULV processor with integrated graphics card is found in the Toshiba Portégé Z830-10N. Toshiba also installs an SSD from its own production. The memory configuration of 4 GB is quite sufficient, whereby the 2 GB bar could theoretically be replaced. ( Charger for HP ProBook 4710s Battery ) Intel charges a lot less for the Core i3-2367M built into the 10N than for the Core i5-2467M. In return, the user gets considerably less performance. The Core i3 doesn't support automatic overclocking via Turbo Boost and is therefore limited to a maximum clock of 1.4 GHz during load. ( Charger for HP ProBook 4720s Battery ) The i5 can clock up to 2.3 GHz in this case, and is consequently at a clear advantage. However, the i5 can also break away with a base clock of 1.6 GHz. Moreover, the i3 lacks support for Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d). But that isn't as important in an ultrabook (VT-x is supported).( Charger for HP ProBook 4210s Battery ) The i3-2367M is clearly defeated in a direct performance comparison in our benchmarks. The Core i5 has a clear lead of 29% (wPrime 1024m) up to 54% (CB10 single), depending on the CPU benchmark. However, they remain significantly inferior because of the slower access speeds and 4K data rates.( Charger for HP Compaq 6510b Battery ) Toshiba relies on the Intel HD Graphics 3000 integrated in the Core i3-2367M. As typical for ULVs, it has a base clock of 350 MHz and can reach up to 1000 MHz via Turbo Boost 2.0. Up to 1150 MHz are possible in the Core i5 model. ( Charger for HP Compaq 6515b Battery ) Consequently, the graphics card has more power on paper. Together with the processor's weaker clock frequency, a clear performance difference becomes evident in games and graphics benchmarks. The Core i5 is faster by 21% on average in our tests.( Charger for HP Compaq 6710b Battery ) The synthetic benchmarks made it obvious that the ULV graphics isn't exactly one of the CPU's strengths. But it is interesting that it is nevertheless possible to play a few up to date games anyway. ( Charger for HP Compaq 6710s Battery )In addition to casual gaming tracks, such as Orks Must Die, even a few current blockbusters like Fifa 12, Dirt 3 or StarCraft 2, could also be played smoothly in minimum details (single player). However, the HD Graphics 3000 has to give up on more demanding games like Battlefield 3 or Skyrim. The permanently running, single fan is fairly quiet and isn't really noticed in louder surroundings. However, the small fan reveals a major drawback in quieter surroundings. We found the noise quality extremely unpleasant and always present acoustically. ( Charger for HP Compaq 6715b Battery )Although this wasn't noticed in the daily trade show routine, it was all the more audible in the quiet hotel room. Our readers can get an impression of both fan speeds in the following YouTube video: The surface temperatures were inconspicuous over the entire period of use and the device never really got warm. However, we hardly ever put it under stress (the odd game, video playback) and high temperatures weren't noticed then, either. The Core i5 model was also very cool without load. We could only measure a single hot spot of 43.4°C on the bottom during extreme load.( Charger for HP Compaq 6715s Battery ) Toshiba is particularly proud of the two stereo speakers in the device because they are to supply an excellent sound despite the low overall height. We can't share Toshiba's exultation in the endurance test, though. The sound is all right considering the frame size, but it's only sufficient for YouTube videos in quiet surroundings. We had to turn up the volume to maximum to achieve a less than adequate soundscape especially when showing videos in office rooms.( Charger for HP Compaq 6910p Battery ) The Core i3 can beat the stronger Core i5 in battery life. Although the WLAN test isn't directly comparable because we couldn't adjust it to exactly 100 cd/m2 (no meter at hand), the other rates show a corresponding picture. 5 hours of WLAN runtime were also possible in practical use at the CES, but it wasn't enough for a whole workday. Thus, we always had to carry the fairly small power adapter around with us.( Charger for HP Compaq nc6100 Battery ) The model equipped with the small Core i3 proved to be quite useful in the practical test at the CES. The ultrabook easily coped with organizing pictures, HD video editing (thanks to QuickSync) and heavy browser use. ( Charger for HP Compaq nc6105 Battery ) Even videos and an occasional small game weren't too much for the weak CPU / GPU combination. Of course, a large part is owed to the SSD. Although it doesn't exactly excel in the measurements, it nevertheless provides a clear advantage in contrast to conventional HDDs. The SSDSA2BW160G3H belongs to Intel's 320 series (SATA II) and, like the name indicates, has a capacity of 160 GB. Thus, there is enough space for programs and games in addition to the operating system.Compaq Presario CQ60z Battery Conventional HDDs don't even come close to a sequential read rate of nearly 260 MB/s and a sequential write rate of almost 170 MB/s (CrystalDiskMark). However, Intel has a hard time competing against the newer SATA III SSDs. The current performance whopper, the Samsung P830 SSD, transmits data with up to 500 MB/s. An access rate of about 0.14 ms (AS SSD benchmark) is top rate, though.Compaq Presario CQ61 Battery The array of a solid state drive, quad core CPU and DirectX 11 GPU made an excellent impression in the system benchmarks. 16161 points in PCMark Vantage earns respect. Average multimedia notebooks only achieve - if at all - half of this good score. Even strong gaming notebooks don't surpass 10000 points without an SSD. This good trend is continued in PCMark 7 with 4087 points. The less expensive Pavilion dv7-6101eg only managed 2153 points here. In short: Such a well-balanced blend of hardware isn't seen every day.Compaq Presario CQ70 Battery When antialiasing isn't used, The Old Republic is playable with 1920x1080 pixels and high details. Our benchmark sequence (a cab ride on Hutta) displayed an average of 30 fps - a good result. In comparison: The slightly older midrange GPU, Radeon HD 5650, computes about a third slower (19 fps @ Acer TravelMate 7740G).Compaq Presario CQ71 Battery The building strategy hit, Anno 2070, can't be enjoyed with maximum graphics options. The Intro of the first campaign mission stutters intensely when 1920x1080 pixels and the preset "Very High" are used - the Pavilion dv7 only manages 14 fps. The Radeon 6770M shouldn't be faced with more than high details and 1366x768 pixels in any case (26 fps). The popular GeForce GT 540M would only manage medium details with a HD resolution.HP G50 Battery It looks similar in the newest "The Elder Scrolls" scion. While the preset "Ultra" doesn't run smoothly in the native resolution (15 fps), a mix of high details and 1366x768 pixels is quite smooth (30 fps). The immediate opponent from Nvidia, the GeForce GT 555M, is a bit slower in these settings (25 fps @ Acer Aspire 5951G). Gamers who want to play Skyrim with all controls set to full will have to look for a gaming laptop that has a high-end graphics card (e. g. the Samsung 700G7A).HP G60 Battery The multiplayer hit from the Swedish developer, DICE, teaches almost every notebook the meaning of fear. HP's multimedia machine is no exception here. High or even maximum details are too much for the Radeon HD 6770M in demanding scenes. Our benchmark (beginning of the single player mission "Operation Swordbreaker") partly stuttered considerably. We would recommend using 1366x768 pixels and medium details. The AMD graphics card lags a bit behind the GeForce GT 555M (32 fps @ Asus N75SF) with 27 fps. Note: Battlefield 3 only worked properly in the windowed mode (GPU driver: 8.830.6.3000).HP G61 Battery Batman: Arkham City also proves that the Radeon HD 6770M quickly finds its limits in DirectX 11 games. Even when "only" 1366x768 pixels, high details and two-time MSAA is selected, the action track is unplayable with 18 fps. On the other hand, medium details are rendered as smooth as silk in DirectX 9 mode (58 fps @ 1366x768).HP G70 Battery The gamer is faced with a contrasting picture in Fifa 12. Owing to moderate hardware requirements, the soccer simulation runs smoothly even on high details and four-time antialiasing in the native resolution (54 fps). It's pretty irrelevant here that Fifa 12 is actually Nvidia's territory: Depending on the setting, the GeForce GT 555M calculates almost twice as fast (almost 100 fps in maximum details).HP G71 Battery We tested F1 2011 for the race game community. 1920x1080 pixels, four-time antialiasing and the preset "Ultra" (DX 11) was regrettably too much of a good thing: The Pavilion dv7 only managed 17 fps in the built-in benchmark. On the other hand, nothing's in the way of an enjoyable race (36 fps) with 1366x768 pixels, two-time antialiasing and the preset "High" (DX 11). Again, compared with the GeForce GT 555M, Nvidia's rival GPU has the lead by about 50% with 53 fps (Asus N75SF).HP G71t Battery Finally, we'd like to present the results from the successful action / role game mix, Deus Ex 3. It's not very surprising that the AMD graphics card has serious problems with high details, 1920x1080 pixels, MLAA and 16x AF. The beginning of the games was only rendered with 19 fps. Users who would like to enjoy DirectX 11 effects should select 1366x768 pixels and medium details in the options. The Radeon HD 6770M settles to 42 fps, so about 20% behind the GeForce GT 555M (51 fps @ Asus N75SF).HP Pavilion dv4 Battery Strictly speaking, 1920x1080 pixels aren't really in line with the Radeon HD 6770M. Maximum graphics options remain out of bounds for newer tracks. Medium details are the utmost possible depending on the game. Although the AMD graphics card deals a lot better with 1366x768 pixels (1600x900 pixels weren't available), the image looks fairly muddy. Thus, the Pavilion dv7-6b02eg is sooner aimed at casual gamers willing to accept compromises than at avid gamers.HP Pavilion dv4i Battery However, the Radeon HD 6770M is in no way inferior to the GeForce GT 555M despite a few outliers (see Fifa 12) - both graphics cards are on a par. More gaming benchmarks for the Radeon HD 6770M can be found in the review of the Pavilion dv7-6101eg.HP Pavilion dv4t Battery The multimedia laptop has to accept some criticism in system noise. Although the fan is occasionally disabled in idle, the Pavilion dv7 is always audible. The reason: The hard disk is always noticed by a constant (but in no way annoying) noise. Unfortunately, the fan is activated occasionally in idle and ends up in a clearly audible level. Intermediate speed levels are definitely missing here.HP Pavilion dv4z Battery The dv7-6b02eg isn't exactly quiet during load. The fan's speed increases to an almost disturbingly loud level when the laptop is faced with a demanding 3D program over a longer time. While sound intensive games, such as Battlefield 3, can still be consumed properly, the fan proves to be extremely present in quieter games, such as Anno 2070. Sensitive users should sooner take a model with a dual core CPU; the Pavilion dv7-6101eg wasn't as loud in the test.HP Pavilion dv5 Battery We found the case temperatures in idle pleasant. An average of 21°C on the top and 25°C on the bottom is fairly low. It's possible to work with the device even for several hours when the hard disk isn't excessively accessed.HP Pavilion dv5t Battery We noticed that the wrist rest got a bit warmer during higher load. However, 30°C on the top is still acceptable in our opinion. The bottom heats up a lot more in the rear area. Our thermometer recorded up to 55°C in the stress test. Thus, playing a game on the lap shouldn't be risked.HP Pavilion dv5t-1000 Battery Turbo works perfectly as long as the Core i7-2670QM isn't over-exerted. As can be seen in the following pictures, the quad core clocks with an average of 3.0 GHz in single core load and about 2.8 GHz in multi core load.HP Pavilion dv5z Battery The Core i7-2670QM doesn't feel as comfortable in the stress test (full load induced by Prime and the Unigine Heaven benchmark). The high-end processor repeatedly throttles to 1400 MHz (picture 4) after a certain period of warming up (picture 3). However, throttling shouldn't be an issue in normal routine use.HP Pavilion dv6 Battery The dv7-6b02eg's sound quality is above average, but not in the least reference-worthy. Despite four speakers and a subwoofer, the sound didn't knock our socks off. The multimedia laptop gains volume and power with enabled Beats Audio (see screenshot), but tends to fray at the same time. We generally find the sound a bit tinny and imprecise. Thus, the USB ports integrated on the right's far front are easy to reach, but obstruct especially righties who like to use a mouse when peripherals are connected. The display ports, usually fitted with unwieldy cables, and the often protruding ExpressCard expansions in the notebook's left front area can cause obstructions. This will naturally be assessed quite differently depending on the user and is also always dependent on the individual work situation.HP G70 Battery,adapter The audio sockets for headsets and the cardreaders adjacent to that, one for SD memory card and the other for Sony's memory sticks, are quite pleasing. The USB ports' transfer rates are above average and reach up to 30.1 MB/s. The SD cardreader achieves 19.8 MB/s.HP G71 Battery,adapter Our test model is fitted with Windows 7 Professional in its 64 bit alternative, matching the target clientele. In addition, there is the possibility of downgrading to Windows XP with the included DVD, which primarily is a benefit for companies that haven't yet switched to a more current system. The other software equipment is quite meager and basically is limited to well-known 60 day trial versions. The times in which full Adobe products were found in the scope of delivery also seem to belong to the past.HP Pavilion dv4 Battery,adapter Many business users would like an additional number pad that makes it easier to input large number sequences. HP Pavilion dm4 Battery,adapter Sony doesn't comply with this wish in the Vaio VPC-B11 and only provides a standard layout. However, it comes with normal-sized keys, the usual layout and a few functions in the FN combination field. Frequently used keys, like shift, backspace, enter, tab and the arrows, are pleasantly sized. Although the keyboard can be pressed in, especially in the area of the optical drive, it supplies a good typing feel with suitable feedback for frequent typists. The lettering is contrast rich and allows the figures to be seen quite well even in unfavorable light conditions.HP Pavilion dm3 Battery,adapter The touchpad has a pleasant size and gliding ability, but can't serve with multi-touch gestures. The input is recognized well and allows for an unproblematic control after a short accommodation period. The short-stroked touchpad keys respond just as well, but confirm clicks with a somewhat mechanical noise. Sony doesn't offer alternative input options, such as trackpoints available from some competitors.HP Pavilion dm3t Battery,adapterPerhaps this is the reason why countless mice or even a Bluetooth keyboard with a separate number pad are found in Sony's accessory program as optional equipment, naturally for an additional charge. The used onyx black display with a 16:10 format in connection with modern LED backlight in the Vaio VPC-B11 presents an unusual rarity nowadays. Whilst 16:9 screens are used in almost all current releases, Sony uses, as already for the predecessor Vaio BZ, a WXGA+ resolution of 1440x900 pixels, which was formerly also hardly used in the 15" category.HP Pavilion dm3z Battery,adapter The dot density is in a balanced field with 110 dpi and offers a good ratio of image size and available display surface. Alternately, Sony offers a similar display with a WXGA resolution (1280x800) in the Vaio VPC-B11X9E. Merely 52% of the color space is covered.The used panel is made with a reflective surface, common for most Sony notebooks. This decision doesn't really fit to the target group. Depending on the screen content and surrounding lighting condition, you'll be faced with objects and people that are reflected more or less brash and thus distract from what's actually happening on the display.Compaq Presario CQ20 Battery,adapter While you can get a grip on this drawback in confined rooms by a careful choice of seating position and clothing, and by adjusting the light, it's only possible with massive restrictions outdoors despite the actually intense backlight The latter application field is additionally impaired because the full brightness of about 250 cd/m2 isn't available in Battery,adapter mode, but only a maximum brightness of 205 cd/m2 instead. This setting can't be altered in the BIOS, as in some other notebooks. Otherwise, the brightness can be set to 12 cd/m2 up to the maximum brightness in 8 steps and is well distributed with 83%. Usually, level 6 grants an ergonomic brightness of about 160cd/m2. The brightness decrease toward the display's lower third can only be recognized on monochrome screen backgrounds during practical use.HP Compaq 2230s Battery,adapter We find the low contrast ratio of 147:1 disappointing. There's nothing to be seen any longer from the previous advantage ascribed to glossy displays. White isn't really white and you also look for a saturated black in vain. Text documents rather appear to have been written on gray paper and dark movie scenes make a bleached impression.HP 4410t Mobile Thin Client Battery,adapter Even the colors are presented overall pallid and not very saturated. The color space only reaches 52% or the sRGB's color space and is thus on par with standard notebook displays. The screen is hardly suitable for image editing despite its comparatively higher resolution.The viewing angles stand out with a large horizontal stability, but suffer on the vertical plane of fast color inverting or bleaching, as so often.HP ProBook 4405 Battery,adapter The Sony Vaio notebook, Sony Vaio VPC-B11V9E, is equipped with Intel's HM55 Express Chipset and has a fast Intel Core i5-520M CPU. It includes 2 physical cores, hyperthreading (4 threads due to 2 additional virtual cores) and turbo boost. HP ProBook 4405s Battery,adapter The clock rate has the usual 2.4 GHz and can be increased up to 2.93 GHz by single thread applications. The memory controller and graphic core are also found in the processor case. Our test model is equipped with a 4 GB DDR3 RAM and can accommodate a maximum of 8 GB (4 GB modules) in two slots. Intel's integrated HD Graphics shows itself responsible for graphical output, and can also use standard clock rates (500-766 MHz).HP ProBook 4406 Battery,adapterVery fast video convertingBooting from external devices, as well as Intel's Virtualization Technology and the Trusted Platform Module isn't enabled in the BIOS ex-factory. This however can be changed if wanted. A highlight of our test system is the Intel Core i5 processor that provides a very good computing performance. This isn't only shown in the usual benchmark results, as in wPrime 1024 (599s), Cinebench R10 64bit multi-core (8049 points) or superpi 32m (899s), but also in our practical tests of video and MP3 converting. The Core i5-520M CPU converts MP3 files with a 33.4 time speed to AAC with iTunes and our 300 trailer in 1080p was reduced to an iPhone compatible format within 11 s. Both are top rates.HP ProBook 4406s Battery,adapter The Vaio isn't suitable for rendering the latest tracks or for complicated 3D calculations. Here, it lacks the performance for keeping up with dedicated graphic cards, despite the variable clock. Thus, the benchmark results only move along the lower performance scale with 332 points in 3DMark Vantage and 2169 points in OpenGL Shading Cinebench R10. Sony doesn't offer alternatives with a dedicated graphic chip, for instance from Nvidia or ATI, in its VPC-B series.HP ProBook 4410s Battery,adapter DPC Latency Checker We also checked our test device for synchronization errors that may be caused by latencies with the DPC Latency Checker tool. Of course, also the Latitude business series goes Santa Rosa, first and foremost the D830. The classical 15.4 WXGA office notebook scores especially high by a robust magnesium case and good equipment. The advantages of the D830 compared to its predecessor, the D820, can be found in this review.Samsung R458 charger Of course we were curious, if also the case was changed in the course of the update to the Santa Rosa technology. After scrutinizing it, we are sure that the D830 has the traditional look. Decent gray in gray design still ensures a cool business-like look. Also the robustness is unchanged. Alike the D820 also the D830 has a very stable case, which is pressure resistant and flexural rigid. Samsung R458R charger Alike its predecessor the case is mostly made of magnesium parts, which contribute to the case's robustness. Also the light clamshell design of the display is unchanged and provides good flexural rigidity and a closed state, which protects the display against dust penetration. Samsung R463 charger Both hinges seem spacious and robust and keep the display in its position with hardly any see-saw. The ramshorn hook is made of metal and works alright, but, we noticed that it is somewhat loosely attached to the case.Samsung R464 chargerThe D830's interfaces are typical Dell mainly placed at the notebook's backside. Again a so-called "powered USB" port is provided. This is a standard USB port with separated power supply which makes it possible to connect external devices with higher consumption. Among others also a serial port, which is still demanded in the fields of control and machine programming, is provided. The keyboard has a good layout, similar to desktop PCs. Furthermore, the keys are adequately big and typing feels soft and comfortable. Still, the point of pressure is clear. The keyboard is attached tightly to the case. Maybe some users might complain about a somewhat too hard stop at the end of the key stroke. Samsung R465 charger The track point reacts very sensible to pressure, so unintended clicks are frequent. Even after adapting the driver settings, this is still true. Changing the speed of the mouse pointer with the track point is especially difficult, because the edgy knobbed surface sticks a little too little to the finger and is not really ergonomically. Samsung R467 charger The wide touch pad has a smooth surface with good sliding properties. It allows to precisely control the mouse pointer. Both of its buttons are user-friendly with sufficient travel. Between them there is a fingerprint reader.Samsung R468 chargerThe Dell D830 provides only three hot keys which are dedicated to volume control. The WLAN can be activated by a slide switch located at the right side. It and also the display's transport hook are a little rickety. Color DiagramDifferent display versions are available for the Dell Latitude. They range from the 1280x800, the current base version, a 1680x1050 WSXGA+ panel to a top WUXGA display with a resolution of 1920x1200 pixels. The display surface can be either a reflecting Ultra Sharp solution, or alternatively matt. Samsung R470 charger The reviewed notebook was equipped with a non-reflecting 1680x1050 display, which is a reasonable solution. The WSXGA+ panel combines overview with comfortable font size, so, its ideal for Windows Vista.Samsung R478 chargerThe display's brightness is very good with up to 186.3 cd/m² in its lower part. However, the brightness clearly declines to the top, so the illumination is only 64.2%. The measurement diagram of the display calibration depicts that the blue color curve has to be lowered to calibrate the colors. The low black value and the good maximum brightness result in a good maximum contrast. A contrast ratio of calculated 621:1 is a perfect study. The WSXGA+ panel is also alright regarding speed of reaction.Samsung R505 chargerOperation OutdoorsOn the one hand the Dell Latitude D830 should be fit for outdoor usage, because of a matt display with good maximum brightness. However, because the brightness clearly declines especially at the top of the display, outdoor usage is not completely trouble-free. Horizontally, the stability to the vantage point is alright. Vertically, you'll quickly face, especially when looking from bottom up, a heavy darkening of the display. The area of operation is vertically rather narrow and just sufficient.Samsung R507 chargerAs already used to, you can also choose between a variety of equipments for the Dell Latitude D830. At the time of writing, the whole range of processors of the Core 2 Duo series from T7100 to T7700 is offered. The reviewed notebook was equipped with todays most powerful mobile CPU, the T7700 with 2.4GHz. Regarding mobile computational power there is, therefore, nothing left to be desired. This is also proved by the performed benchmark tests. Samsung R510 charger In the reviewed notebook an integrated GMA X3100 video card was responsible for graphics and 3D. This is the successor of the integrated GMA 950 GPU. The performance of this solution is alright and comparable to a X1300 or a Geforce 7300. Still gaming is not one of the intended tasks for this notebook. Samsung R517 charger Combined with 2GB main memory and a very fast 120GB hard disk the Latitude D830 is a powerful office notebook. However, the noise level is not really annoying, as it is a rather rustling noise. Sometimes, the fan's revolution speed is increased and you can hear it a little more. Samsung R519 charger Although the revolution speed clearly increases under load, a maximum noise level of 42.3 dB is yet alright. Furthermore, it's unlikely to reach this noise level during standard office operation. The built-in hard disk drew our attention, because it clearly clatters and creaks in use.Samsung R522 chargerBesides a clear increase at the bottom side, where 41.7°C are reached, the temperature emissions of the D830 are alright. Especially the maximum temperature at the top side of only 35.2°C ensures a comfortable use. The speakers are located left and right beside the keyboard and provide good and clear sound. Even the basses are up to a certain degree alright. Also the maximum volume is alright, however, the sound starts getting unclear and the speakers blast at about 75% of maximum volume.Samsung R540 charger The reviewed notebook was equipped with a powerful 85Wh charger which is about comparable to a 7600 mAh charger. So, the Dell Latitude D830 has a good charger runtime. The measured runtime ranged from about 2 hours under load, and more than 4 during WLan usage to a maximum of 9 hours without load and with optimized energy settings (WLan, Bluetooth, LAN off, minimum brightness, energy saving mode). Samsung R560 chargerOverall, the D830 can be called a very mobile notebook. Considering that the D830 can be equipped with a supplement charger attached to the modular drive, the mobility of the D830 is excellent. Dell Latitude D830In general the Dell Latitude D830 meets the requirements of a reasonable business notebook. Regarding performance it clearly outperforms the D820, its predecessor. But, this is also a result of the good equipment of the reviewed notebook. Samsung R610 chargerEquipped with an especially robust and durable magnesium case, the Latitude D830 meets the business notebook's demand for an indestructible and persistent case. Also the decent design makes it look business-like. Another important aspect are of course user-friendly input devices, which allow to work for a long time without problems. Regarding this aspect, the D830 has a keyboard with a clear layout and a user-friendly touch pad. Only the track point did not really convince us. Samsung R700 charger (Comment on this)

Während sich das matte HD+-Display primär an Office-Nutzer richtet, wird das Interesse von Entertainment-Fans durch die potenten Mittelklasse-Komponenten geweckt. Wer öfters unterwegs ist und entsprechend auf eine hohe Akkulaufzeit angewiesen ist, freut sich derweil über die moderaten Gehäuse-Ausmaße und den starken 8-Zellen-Akku. Akku HP Pavilion dv6 Momentan sind zwei verschiedene Varianten des Allround-Notebooks in Deutschland erhältlich. Das von uns getestete 700Z5A-S01DE geht für rund 1000 Euro über die Ladentheke und ist mit sechs GByte DDR3-RAM, einer 750 GByte großen HDD und einer topaktuellen Dual-Core-CPU von Intel ausgestattet (Core i5-2430M @ 2.4-3.0 GHz).Akku HP EliteBook 2530p Das rund 400 Euro teurere 700Z5A-S03DE lohnt sich nur für Anwender, die unbedingt einen Vierkern-Prozessor ihr Eigen nennen wollen. Intels brandneuer Core i7-2675QM taktet unter Last mit 2.2 bis 3.1 GHz. Der Arbeitsspeicher umfasst zudem acht statt sechs GByte. Gemeinsamkeiten entdeckt man bei der Grafikkarte: Die Radeon HD 6750M ist ein DirectX 11 fähiges Midrange-Modell von AMD. Als optisches Laufwerk (Slot-In) dient jeweils ein konventioneller DVD-Brenner. Akku HP Compaq 6510b matte OberflächenOptisch halten wir das Chronos 700Z5A für gänzlich gelungen. Design und Formgebung wirken schlicht und edel zugleich, die silber-grauen Oberflächen verleihen dem 15-Zöller ein frische Gestalt. Durch das matte Finish verschmutzt das Gehäuse kaum, im Gegensatz zu glänzenden Vertretern wimmelt es nicht dauernd vor Staubpartikeln und Fingerabdrücken. Zerkratzen kann man das Gerät auch nicht so leicht.Akku HP COMPAQ 6730b Da Displaydeckel und Tastaturumgebung aus Aluminium gefertigt sind, ist die Materialanmutung trotz zahlreicher Kunststoff-Elemente (Boden & Handballenauflage) gut. Bei genauerer Betrachtung offenbart das Gehäuse dann aber doch einige Schwächen. So ist die Verarbeitung insgesamt zwar überdurchschnittlich, am äußeren Rand des Displayrahmens schien bei unserem Testgerät jedoch teilweise das Panel durch.Akku HP EliteBook 8730w Größter Kritikpunkt ist die mäßige Stabilität. Die Oberseite gibt bei kräftigerem Druck nicht nur im Laufwerks- und Touchpadbereich, sondern auch zur Mitte hin, deutlich nach. Darüber hinaus kann der Deckel bedenklich stark verbogen werden. Mit genügend Kraftaufwand wäre es vermutlich kein Problem, den Bildschirm zu zerbrechen. Lediglich die Unterseite erwies sich als relativ stabil.Akku HP ProBook 4710s Ein weiteres Manko ist das wackelige Scharnier, welches das Display bei Untergrunderschütterungen nicht richtig in Position hält. Die kompakten Ausmaße stimmen uns dagegen wieder gewogen: 362 x 238 Millimeter erinnern eher an ein 14-Zoll-Gerät. Eine Höhe von 25 Millimetern verdient angesichts der verbauten Komponenten ebenfalls Respekt. Hinzu kommt ein moderates Gewicht von 2.4 Kilogramm.Akku HP 436281-141 Das Notebook eignet sich prima als Reise- oder Uni-Begleiter - mit dem flachen Gehäuse wird man viele neidische Blicke ernten. Einen ebenbürtigen MacBook-Konkurrenten dürfen Sie allerdings nicht erwarten, qualitativ spielen die Apple-Produkte in einer anderen Liga, auch wenn das Chronos bei gewissen Gehäuseparts optisch doch stark an diese erinnert. HP 484171-001 Die Anschlussausstattung ist nicht gerade hitverdächtig. Wer auf einen ExpressCard-Einschub, einen FireWire- oder einen eSATA-Port hofft, wird leider enttäuscht. Drei USB-Anschlüsse sind auch etwas mager, wobei Samsung immerhin 2x USB 3.0 integriert hat. Ein Kensington-Lock, ein HDMI-Ausgang und ein Kartenleser (vier Formate) sind bei Notebooks sowieso Standard.Akku HP ProBook 4515s Der RJ-45 Gigabit-LAN-Port ist aufgrund der flachen Bauweise übrigens mit einer Klappe versehen. Ebenfalls nett: Mithilfe eines beliegenden Adapters lassen sich externe Bildschirme optional per VGA anschließen. Mikrofon und Kopfhörer müssen sich (leider) einen Port teilen; die Nutzung einer Surround-Anlage bleibt dem Käufer verwehrt.Akku dell xps 15  An der Positionierung der Schnittstellen gibt es hingegen nichts zu meckern. Da sich die meisten Ports im hinteren Bereich der linken Seite befinden, wird der Einsatz einer Maus nicht behindert.Akku dell vostro 3550  Drahtlos geht es natürlich auch ins Internet, das Chronos 700Z5A unterstützt WLAN b/g/n und Bluetooth 3.0.linke Seite: Kensington Lock, Stromeingang, HDMI, RJ-45 Gigabit-LAN, 2x USB 3.0, Anschluss für VGA-Adapter, Sound Akku dell xps m1530   Als Betriebssystem hat Samsung die 64-bit-Variante von Windows 7 Home Premium gewählt. Im Vergleich zu anderen Herstellern wird das Notebook dabei nicht übermäßig mit Software „bombardiert“ - der unnötige Ballast hält sich in Grenzen.Akku Apple A1185  Erwähnenswert ist ein Tool namens „Easy Settings“, das komfortabel per Tastenkombination (Fn+F1) aktiviert werden kann und direkten Zugriff auf diverse Features wie den USB-Charger oder den „Battery Life Extender“ (Akku lädt bis maximal 80 %) gewährt. Bild, Sound, Netzwerk und Energiesparpläne lassen sich dort ebenfalls konfigurieren.VGP-BPS13A/B  Der Lieferumfang braucht sich keineswegs zu verstecken. Neben einem zierlichen 90-Watt-Netzteil (leichte 344 Gramm) und dem bereits erwähnten VGA-Adapter packt Samsung ein Handbuch und eine Kurzanleitung in den Karton. Sogar an eine Recovery-DVD hat der Hersteller gedacht – super.Wenig überraschend beträgt die Garantiezeit 24 Monate (innerhalb der ersten 90 Tage auf 36 oder 48 Monate erweiterbar).Sony VGP-BPS13   Bei den Eingabegeräten hat Samsung einen guten Job abgeliefert.VGP-BPS13A/Q   Angefangen bei der Tastatur, die nicht nur mit einer regelbaren (weißen) Beleuchtung, sondern auch mit freistehenden und passabel dimensionierten Tasten (15x15 mm) aufwartet. Druckpunkt und Anschlag sind ordentlich, auch am Tippgeräusch dürfte kaum jemand etwas zu kritisieren haben. Das Layout ist ebenfalls durchdacht - man gewöhnt sich sehr schnell ein. Lediglich die kleinen Pfeiltasten würden uns auf Dauer stören (nur 8 mm Höhe). Der dedizierte Nummernblock kann dieses Manko zumindest teilweise ausgleichen.VGP-BPS13B/B  Das minimal abgesenkte Touchpad punktet vor allem mit einer üppigen Dimensionierung: 107x77 Millimeter erlauben es dem Nutzer,VGP-BPS13B/Q   auch größere Bildschirmstrecken ohne ein Nachsetzen des Fingers zu bewältigen. Weiterer Pluspunkt ist die glatte Oberfläche, auf der es sich äußerst angenehm gleiten lässt. Ungewöhnlich sind die im Touchpad eingearbeiteten Tasten. Während diese anfangs für die ein oder andere Fehleingabe sorgen, kommt man nach einer Weile anständig zurecht (gesonderte Tasten wären uns dennoch lieber).VGP-BPS13/B   Bei den Systembenchmarks stellte das Chronos 700Z5A erwartungsgemäß keine neuen Rekorde auf. 7118 Punkte im PCMark Vantage sind ordentlich, aber nicht überragend. Zum Vergleich: Das 17-zöllige HP Pavilion dv7-6101eg erreichte trotz ähnlich starker Komponenten (Core i5-2410M & Radeon HD 6770M) nur 6648 Punkte. Das bereits erwähnte Schenker XMG A501 (Core i5-2410M & GeForce GT 555M) kam mit „richtiger“ SSD-Festplatte hingegen auf über 10000 Punkte.Sony VGP-BPS10/S (Comment on this)

Mit der üblichen Einstellarbeit am Equalizer ist es also möglich, einen relativ ausgewogenen Sound zu erzielen. Für ein bombastisches Kinoerlebnis oder audiophilen Hörgenuss muss man aber weiterhin externe Lösungen hinzuziehen. Diese können per USB oder 1,5 mm Klinke angebunden werden. 8:43 am	Dell Precision M6600 Notebook Touchpad, TrackPoint und die dazugehörigen Tasten bieten einen guten Funktionsumfang, Sony VGP-BPS10/S sind von der Bedienbarkeit her gelungen und entsprechen denen des Precision M4600.Im Unterschied zum Dell Precision M4600 kann man beim Precision M6600 derzeit nur zwischen zwei Displayvarianten wählen. Zwar wird in der Produktbeschreibung auch von einem optional erhältlichen Touchdisplay mit Stifterkennung gesprochen, auswählen kann man dieses im Online-Shop bislang aber nicht. Gar nicht im Angebot befinden sich ein IPS Panel oder ein Display mit RGB-LED-Hintergrundbeleuchtung, das einen erweiterten Farbraum bieten könnte. Sony VGP-BPS8A Der im Einstiegsmodell erhältliche Standardbildschirm bietet eine Auflösung von 1600x900 Bildpunkten (106 dpi) und die in unserem Testmodell verwendete Alternative löst mit 1920x1080 Bildpunkten (127 dpi) auf. Sony VGP-BPS9/S Damit kann man auf dem 17,3“ Bildschirm über viel Arbeitsfläche verfügen, Sony VGP-BPS9/B die im Notebookbereich lediglich durch mittlerweile kaum noch verbaute 16:10 Bildschirme mit 1920x1200 Bildpunkten übertroffen werden kann. Die Darstellungsgröße von Symbolen, Schriften und Icons ist bei einer Einstellung von 100% für die meisten User noch groß genug, alle anderen können diese wie gehabt in der Systemsteuerung den eigenen Bedürfnissen nach anpassen.Sony VGP-BPS9 An unseren üblichen neun Messpunkten liefert die LED-Hintergrundbeleuchtung Helligkeitswerte von 268 cd/m² bis 309 cd/m². Sony VGP-BPS9A/B Im Schnitt haben wir 291 cd/m² ermittelt, die eine relativ gleichmäßige Ausleuchtung von 87% ergeben. Das ist nicht nur generell ein guter Wert, sondern gewinnt nochmals an Bedeutung, wenn man die Größe des zu erhellenden Bildschirms bedenkt. Die Helligkeit kann in 15 Stufen von 21 cd/m² bis 301 cd/m² (beides Zentrum) reguliert werden. Dank der matten Oberfläche wird man von störenden Spiegelungen verschont und kann in Innenräumen eine ergonomische Bildschirmhelligkeit einstellen. In Stufe 4 haben wir 103 cd/m², Stufe 5 123 cd/m², Stufe 6 144 cd/m² und Stufe 7 163 cd/m² gemessen. Sony VGP-BPS9A/S Mit durchschnittlich 291 cd/m² ist das Display auch für den Außeneinsatz gut gerüstet. In den meisten Situationen ist die Helligkeit stark genug, um dem anliegenden Tageslicht Paroli bieten zu können. Erst bei direkter Sonneneinstrahlung muss man sich sehr anstrengen die Bildinhalte zu erkennen und sollte entsprechend die Displayposition verändern. Sony VGP-BPS13A/B Als weiteres Highlight zeigt sich das außerordentlich gute Kontrastverhältnis von 912:1. Bilder und Filme gewinnen deutlich an Brillianz und Sättigung, hier sind schwarze Inhalte noch wirklich schwarz, und Schriften setzen sich sichtbar deutlicher vom weißen Untergrund ab als bei den flauen Standarddisplays.VGP-BPS13 M6600 kalibriert vs sRGB (t)Laut Dell-Werbung soll das Panel einen weiten Betrachtungswinkel und eine präzise Farbwiedergabe bieten.VGP-BPS13A/Q Der ermittelte Farbraum kann nicht ganz den sRGB-Farbraum abdecken. Zwar erreicht die Summe aller Farben im Auslieferungszustand etwa 94% der Farben des sRGB-Farbraums, da aber Teile weit außerhalb liegen, reduziert sich die Gesamtsumme innerhalb des sRGB-Farbraums auf unter 90%. Präzise ist die Farbwiedergabe, wenn man den sRGB-Farbraum als Grundlage nimmt, im Auslieferungszustand somit nicht, da grün-blau- und rot-magenta-Werte fehlen und gelb-orange über das Ziel hinausschießt. VGP-BPS13/B Nach einer Kalibrierung mit dem Ziel sRGB-Farbraum, Gamma 2.2,VGP-BPS13B/B bei 6500 Kelvin Farbtemperatur und 120 cd/m² Helligkeit, werden dann die eigentlichen Möglichkeiten des Displays ausgeschöpft und etwa 95 % des sRGB Farbraums abgedeckt. Das ist das derzeit technisch Mögliche, was man von Displays mit White-LEDs erwarten kann. Damit eignet sich die Anzeige, wie von Dell versprochen, auch für die Bildbearbeitung, allerdings nur dann, wenn man auf die letzten Prozent Farbraum verzichten kann und mit einem Colorimeter selbst Hand anlegt. Insgesamt wird also ein deutlich umfangreicheres Farbspektrum, als man dies von den üblichen Standard-Displays her gewohnt ist, abgedeckt. An die Farbenpracht eines RGB-LED Displays kommt dieser Bildschirm allerdings nicht heran.VGP-BPS13B/Q VGP-BPS13A/S Während viele Bildschirme bei einer Veränderung der Sitzposition oder der Displayneigung schnell an einer Verschiebung von Farbtönen, der Helligkeit und des Kontrasts leiden, tritt dieses Verhalten beim Testmodell sichtbar später und in geringerem Umfang ein. Bei extremen Winkeln von der Seite erhalten die Farben einen leichten Gelbstich und bei extremen Winkeln von oben oder unten erkennt man das übliche Invertieren oder Ausbleichen der Darstellung. Im Vergleich zu vielen Konkurrenzmodellen allerdings in abgeschwächter Form. Bessere Ergebnisse könnten in diesem Bereich besonders blickwinkelstabile IPS-Panels bieten, die aber derzeit für das Precision M6600 nicht angeboten werden.VGP-BPS13/Q Auflösungen zwischen FullHD und 1280x1024, wie etwa 1366x768 oder 1600x900,VGP-BPS8 ließen sich wie beim Precision M4600 am internen Display nicht auswählen.Unsere Variante des Precision M6600 ist mit einer Intel Core i7-2920XM CPU, 8 GB RAM, Nvidia Quadro 4000M (2 GB GDDR5) und einem 256 GB fassenden Solid State Drive bestückt. Die Arbeitsspeicherausstattung kann auf bis zu 32 GB ausgebaut werden, da wie beim Precision M4600 insgesamt 4 RAM-Steckplätze zur Verfügung stehen. Zwei davon sind beim Testmodell mit je einem 4-GB-Modul belegt, zwei weitere sind noch frei. VGP-BPS2 Die CPU-Leistung liefert, wie erwartet, Spitzenergebnisse bei den üblichen Benchmarks. VGP-BPS2A Während vor allem Single-Thread-Anwendungen vom TurboBoost (2,5 bis 3,5 GHz) profitieren, können dank Hyperthreading bei Mehrkern-Anwendungen bis zu 8 Operationen gleichzeitig abgearbeitet werden. Zusammen sorgen beide Techniken dafür, dass immer die optimale Leistung verfügbar ist. Die SuperPi 32M Berechnung (Singlethread) benötigt 580 s, wPrime 1024m (Multithread) 264 s und der Cinebench R11.5 (64 bit) erzielt 6,2 Punkte.Sony VGP-BPS2B Sony VGP-BPS2C Während die CPU-Performance im Grunde auf dem Niveau des Precision M4600 angesiedelt ist, kann die Grafikausstattung mit der Nvidia Quadro 4000M bei 3D-lastigen Anwendungen nochmals an Tempo zulegen. Ebenfalls nutzbar ist die im Prozessor integrierte Intel HD Graphics 3000, die im Zusammenspiel mit Nvidias Optimus Technologie eine bedarfsgerechte Nutzung der jeweils optimalen Grafikleistung ermöglicht. The Core i7-960 can set itself off by a whole 30% from the popular Core i7-720QM in single-core rendering with 4825 to 3698 points. Even greater differences come to light in multi-core rendering. The Core i7-960 exceeds the Core i7-720QM by a remarkable 84% with 18331 to 9971 points. This is due to the twice as high clock rate (Turbo Mode remains inactive when all cores are loaded). Inspiron Mini 12 Battery As we released both GeForce GTX 480M onto our benchmark course, one thing quickly became evident: The HellMachine DTX is the strongest notebook that we ever have had in review. As you will see in further course of this editorial, the 17 inch desktop replacement has surpassed almost all our previous reference rates.Inspiron 910 Battery The best example: Inspiron Mini 9 Battery The two GeForce GTX 480M can claim an outstanding GPU score of 14890 points in 3DMark Vantage. Thus, the SLI configuration calculates a whole 86% faster than a single GeForce GTX 480M, which still achieves 7986 points (Clevo D901F). A single GeForce GTX 480M in high details and a resolution of 1280x1024 is surpassed by a remarkable 74% with 58.8 to 33.7 fps.Inspiron Mini 9n Battery Note: Vostro A90 Battery We regrettably can't present the 3DMark 01, 05 and 06 results because the notebook produced graphics errors while starting and crashed in each one. We presume it's a software incompatibility.As mentioned, up to three hard disks can be accommodated inside of the HellMachine DTX's. Our test device was equipped with a 320 GB HDD named ST9320423AS from Seagate and rotates with a fast 7200 rpm. We could measure an access rate of 15.5 ms and average transfer rate of 86.5 MB/s with the tool, HD Tune. Both are relatively good rates. DevilTech has waived on an extensive partitioning. It relies on a single partition.Vostro A90n Battery The HellMachine is one of the few notebooks found on the market that can throughout compete with full-fledged desktop systems. Core i7-960 and GeForce 480M SLI bid such a high performance that even the most demanding applications don't present a problem. The buyer is definitely well served for in the coming years with such a strong bundle. And in case the memory capacity eventually starts to run out: There's nothing standing in the way of a future upgrade thanks to three hard disk slots. Inspiron Mini 10v Battery The GeForce GTX 480M SLI combo had to compete against both a single GeForce GTX 480M (Clevo D901F & DevilTech Fragbook DTX) as well as a SLI configuration of two GeForce GTX 285Ms (mySN XMG8.c) in the gaming benchmarks. We will only deal with the results in the FullHD resolution of 1029x1080 in the text, because the CPU's impact is the lowest here.Latitude 2100 Battery The GeForce GTX 480M easily copes with the heavily laden gangster epic even in high details and 16x AF (anisotropic filtering) in its integrated benchmark. Moreover, it's able to provide a smooth frame rate of 40.9 fps. Nevertheless, a SLI combination can compute almost twice as fast with 75.8 fps.Latitude 2110 Battery The new reference for strategy from the developer forge, Blizzard, doesn't provoke anything but a tired smile from the high-end graphics cards. Whilst a single GeForce GTX 480M can claim 36.8 fps in very high details, the performance only climbs slightly in SLI mode to 42.5 fps.Latitude E4300 Battery The well made first-person shooter, Metro 2033, is the only title in our overview that can bring the HellMachine DTX to its limits. Thus, its only enough for 23.1 fps in very high details, AAA (analytical antialiasing), 4x AF and DirectX 11 mode. Metro 2033 nevertheless still runs significantly smoother than it is the case with one single GeForce GTX 480M (11.8 fps). Latitude E4310 Battery Need for Speed: Shift can be adequately enjoyed even in high details and 4x AA due to its moderate hardware requirements. The HellMachine's SLI combo achieves an average frame rate of 93.0 fps. Thus, it places itself before the GeForce GTX 285M SLI by 17% (79.8 fps) and the GeForce GTX 480M by 80% (51.8 fps).Latitude E4200 Battery Those who don't want to waive on high graphics quality in the tactically demanding multi-player battles of the latest Battlefield sprout, will find the HellMachine DTX just right. We could determine a respectable 64.7 fps in the single-player intro mission with high details, 4x AA and 8x AF. Bad Company 2 runs noticeably slower on a single GeForce GTX 480M, but still moves within a playable range with 37.5 fps. Two GeForce GTX 285Ms place themselves exactly in between with 50.6 fps.Latitude E5400 Battery The unofficial gothic successor doesn't present the HellMachine DTX with any problems whatsoever. You can ramble through the open gaming world smoothly in high details and 4x AF with 70.9 fps. Whilst the two GeForce GTX 285M can still keep up fairly well (58.0 fps), the single GeForce GTX 480M has to be content with 35.9 fps.Latitude E5410 Battery In opposition to other current first-person shooters, Modern Warfare 2 is relatively modest in terms of resource requirements. So, it's not really a wonder that two GeForce GTX 480Ms can present an extremely smooth frame rate of 90.3 fps in very high details and 4x AA. Even computationally intensive scenes, such as heavy smoke development, don't make the HellMachine DTX jitter. Two GeForce GTX 285Ms lag only slight behind with 84.3 fps. A single GeForce GTX 480M also grants a smooth game play with 49.9 fps.Latitude E5500 Battery The graphically impressive Dirt 2 is one of the few available tracks that already have DirectX 11 support. The racing game especially gets along with graphics cards of the GeForce 400 range, as demonstrated in previous tests. Both a single GTS 480M (46.9 fps) as well as a SLI configuration (81.3 fps) surprise with an outstanding performance in very high details and 4x AA. Since the rusty GeForce 200 series is only capable of DirectX 10, the GTX 285M SLI combo's result is only comparable to an extent (69.9 fps).Latitude E5510 Battery Despite its age of about three years, Crysis is still the reference in matters of gaming graphics. Due to the high hardware requirements, the HellMachine DTX has a hard time to ensure a fairly smooth image build up in very high details. Two GeForce GTX 480M graphics card only slightly surpass two GTX 285M GPUs with 30.9 to 26.9 fps. You don't even have to try very high details on a single GeForce GTX 480M. 16.1 fps are even too little for hardcore gamers.Vostro 3400 Battery DevilTech's HellMachine DTX doesn't show weaknesses, Vostro 1710 Battery except for in technically extremely demanding games, such as Crysis or Metro 2033. Thus, the GeForce GTX 480M's SLI combination has enough performance reserves. It can conjure up modern titles in (very) high details and various quality enhancements smoothly onto the screen in FullHD resolutions. More information about these can be found in our data sheet of the GT 540M. That also applies to gaming with the quad core CPU incorporated HD Graphics 3000.Stylistic ST5021 Battery The scores assessed with the P775 in the games Dirt 3, Mafia II or FIFA 11 approximately correspond to the previous rates found in our comprehensive database.We also wanted to know what 3D playability looks like. Switching to 3D is easily accomplished by pressing a button on the Toshiba Satellite P775-100 3D Vision, providing the stereoscopic 3D function is enabled in the control panel.Stylistic ST5020D Battery The stereoscopic 3D feature is disabled or enabled over Nvidia's control panel of the video card. The 3D effect's strength can be customized via a slider.Stylistic ST5020 Battery The overlapping images can be assigned to the according eye with the shutter glasses, which is included in the laptop's scope of delivery. The according movies can be played without problems via the built-in Blu-Ray drive. Even movie trailers from the Internet run in 3D when the corresponding parameters are available. A few 3D movie trailers are included on the notebook in its state of delivery. They show how such movies could look like on the laptop.Fujitsu Stylistic ST4121P Battery The 3D movies can also be watched without the 3D glasses, but only in 2D. Only a few settings in the player are needed. The right or left image is omitted then.Although the system fan is permanently active in the P775-100 notebook, it wasn't noticed adversely in the various noise assessments. We could only measure a rate of 40.1 dB (A) at a distance of 15 cm during load.Fujitsu Stylistic ST4121 Battery The rates were between 34.8 and 35.1 dB (A) in idle mode. The noise also only increased to 38.2 dB (A) during DVD playback. The noise quickly died off in the room and was inaudible at a distance of good 1.5 metersFujitsu Stylistic ST4120P Battery The Toshiba P775-100 3D Vision behaves well in idle or simple office use and only selectively exceeds 30 degrees (bottom). The maximum temperature on the top is about 1 degree less. The average rates achieved 26.9 (top) and 27.2 degrees (bottom).Fujitsu Stylistic ST4120 Battery The waste heat peaks were considerably higher in the stress test: We could measure 51 degrees Celsius in the vent's area on the bottom. It was only 24.1 degrees Celsius on the opposite side. The average rates were 36.6 degrees (bottom) and 36.4 degrees (top).Fujitsu Stylistic ST4110P Battery The wrist rest achieved a temperature of up to 41.4 degrees in the stress test, which can also be felt without a thermometer. The laterally discharged power dissipation also feels a lot warmer, especially when the notebook is placed on the lap.Fujitsu Stylistic ST4110 Battery Two speakers take care of the sound. They are located above the keyboard in the Satellite notebook. The two speakers from Harman/Kardon emit a good sound, although the device doesn't have a subwoofer. The sound can be improved even more via the Dolby Audio Enhancer and modified to suit personal preferences. The volume can be easily controlled or muted via the soft touch bar (above the keyboard). However, the keys' beep sound is irritating when they are triggered. This can't be disabled. Fujitsu Stylistic ST4000P Battery The Satellite P775-100's power consumption is about equal to the P770 model. The more power is needed, the higher the power consumption. In idle, where all saving options are enabled (minimum display brightness, disabled wireless modules), the power consumption is 16.5 watts. 21.9 watts are consumed with a bright display, enabled WLAN and energy settings on high performance.Toshiba PA3692U-1BRS Battery The maximum measured power consumption of the laptop (stress test) is 94 watts.Toshiba PABAS057 Battery The 120 watt adapter (about 650 grams) is sufficiently sized for this.The included 48 watt battery is based on a lithium ion technology and allows the P775-100 notebook work independent of an external power source. The question is - for how long?Toshiba PA3399U-2BRS Battery Our processor stress test drains the battery's power after a relatively short time. The laptop shuts down after only 48 minutes. Recharged within two hours, we could watch a DVD movie for exactly 53 minutes. After this time, the screen turned black and the notebook turned itself off. Recharged again, we surfed on the Internet via WLAN. The battery lasted for 121 minutes here. We measured 164 minutes (~2:44h) in the Reader's Test where WLAN is disabled and the display brightness is set to minimum.Toshiba PABAS232 Battery Those are fairly short runtimes, but perhaps the energy profiles that Toshiba includes on the laptop will help here. We even recorded a shorter battery runtime in eco mode with the Reader's Test. Rather than the previously measured 164 minutes, it is now only 131 minutes. Taking matters into our own hands apparently has a greater effect than the manufacturer's defaults.Toshiba PABAS231 Battery Pretty notebook with 3D features, but we ask ourselves why glasses are still needed. Toshiba proved that this is also possible without even before the IFA. The P775-100 3D Vision is almost based completely on the model, P770-10P (without 3D functions) - including all pros and cons. Toshiba has copied the case, its interfaces and functions 1:1. Even the cheap looking plastic material. The just mentioned Toshiba notebook matches this again with 38 FPS, like the Nexoc E643 with 41.6 FPS. Only on ultra high graphics detail and 1920x1080 FullHD resolution with 4x anti aliasing does the Samsung RC730 wave the white flag with 12.7 FPS.Dell Inspiron M501R Battery Even though older, GTA IV is still popular and so a benchmark should not be missing here. A benchmark with low graphic settings, all sliders at minimum and a resolution of 800x600 provides 64.5 FPS. An Acer Aspire 5750G-2634G64 with identical hardware matches that score. An older Asus W90VP with Intel Core2Quad Q9000 and Mobility Radeon HD 4870 X2 falls far behind here, at 48.6 FPS. An example for the steady progress in the CPU and GPU sector. Dell Inspiron M5010 Battery With medium settings, 21/100 viewing distance, 10/100 detail and 50/100 for cars at a resolution of 1024x768 pixels, the RC730 remains at a very playable level with an average frame rate of 47.6 FPS. A previous generation Deviltech Fire DTX with Intel Core i7 720QM and Radeon HD5650 is behind by about 5 FPS.Dell Inspiron M5010R Battery Only with maximum graphic detail and 1280x1024 resolution,Dell Inspiron M5030 Battery frame rates start to fold visibly. An average frame rate of 28.8 FPS is not quite enough to guarantee continuously smooth game play.As expected, games with low to medium graphics settings run stutter-free. Everyone has to know for themselves if they feel like playing with most of the eye candy turned off. The RC730 surely is no gamer's notebook, but for casual play on occasion, it will do. Especially with the native screen resolution of 1600x900, you will mostly need to use the low detail settings, as most of our benchmarks were taken with much lower resolutions.Dell Inspiron M5030R Battery Overall, the RC730 is a silent companion.Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 Battery With low to medium load, the cooling system occasionally deactivates the fan, so only the hard drive is audible with 31.2 dB(A) at 15 cm distance. In Samsung's customary Silent Mode, the fan is turned off more often, or run at slower speeds, causing the notebook to get a bit warmer. Still, this is a nice option when a quiet work environment is needed. This requires a little more patience from the user, because the low noise is achieved by clocking down the cores to 800 MHz. For simple office tasks, this suffices, but playing games like this would be impossible.Dell Mini 1012 N450 Battery Under heavy load, the fan speeds up swiftly, but without getting intrusive. Even the highest speed isn't overly loud, alloying the RC 730 score positive marks for noise emissions. Noise levels peak out at 38.7 dB(A), which shouldn't be annoying for most people. Additionally, positive emphasis can be placed on the fact that the fan has no bad manners like pulsing or howling and doesn't emit disturbing frequencies.DELL Studio 1450 Battery The only annoyance is the DVD drive drawing attention with above average noise levels.DELL Studio 1450n Battery Once a movie is playing, it quiets down though, only reading the TOC and searching is loud.Temperatures are as inconspicuous as the noise levels at first. At low load, the unit only warms up marginally. Nobody would worry about a maximum of 29.6°C underneath, the wrist rest with 26.3°C and 21.5°C is almost cool. Under medium load, like playing back a DVD, the temperature hardly increases any further.DELL Studio 1450R Battery Under load the situation changes; the top surface in the left rear area above the cooling fan heats up to 37.7°C, The wrist rest still remains relatively cool. Too hot for your thighs is the area of the exhaust: up to 49°C hurt even battle hardened legs. The rest of the bottom surface remains at an acceptable temperature level, as you can see in the graphic below.DELL Vostro V13 Battery In summary, you can say that the RC730 handles its cooling well, just for lengthy gaming sessions, you should probably find yourself a table. In real use, this weakness does not have quite as strong of an impact, but you should take care that the cooling fins remain free of dust and grime. This is simply an equalizer with adding gain to upper bass frequencies. With the offered settings, it is possible to coax the speakers into emitting an acceptable sound quality. There still is, unsurprisingly, a lack of bass, leaving the overall impression a bit hollow. The maximum volume is not particularly high, and tends to distort. The speakers are thus more useful for silent surroundings. Although the Sony netbook officially has the more powerful combination of processor and graphics unit, there are other netbooks with the above mentioned components that achieve better results. The growth between the single core and multi core calculation isn't very big in the benchmarks. This is especially because the second thread generated by hyperthreading isn't a real processor and thus only allows a small increase in performance.PQ457AV The 3DMark graphic benchmark's results once again show very clearly that the Sony Vaio VPC-W21C7E/G isn't suitable for playing current games. Whilst it still reaches fairly acceptable results in the 2001 benchmark, the score drops considerably in the newer benchmarks.HP 416996-131 HD Tune 2.55 BenchmarkThe used Toshiba hard disk has a gross capacity of 250 GB and rotates the magnetic disk at a speed of 5400 revolutions per minute. In view of the performance rates, the hard disk is in the midfield of hard disks installed in netbooks. Thus, 73.39 MB/s (read) and 72.90 MB/s (write) are good rates for a 2.5 inch hard disk. HP 416996-441 If games even run on the netbook hardware, you'll have to accept clear cutbacks. You can already see in the hardware configuration that hardly a current game will run smoothly. Neither the Intel GMA 3150 nor the Intel Atom processors are famous for their gaming strength. You can find detailed data about the Intel GMA 3150's gaming performance in our gaming list.HP 432974-001 YouTube videos can be rendered in a resolution of 360p without problems, even in full screen mode. However, our test model stopped responding to commands via keyboard or mouse. The browser only responded when the video was at its end or when it made a short break to reload data. 480p can also be rendered smoothly in a window and full screen. However, occasionally there were small jitters. Jitters increase in a window view and there is barely a smooth part in full screen with 720p and higher. HP 434674-001 The netbook is usually very quiet and unobtrusive in idle. However the installed fan already turns up audibly in small tasks, such as office work or during a download. Whilst other netbooks just only scratch the 30 dB(A) limit in idle, we measure up to 32.7 dB(A) in Sony's Vaio VPC-W21C7E/G netbook. The cooling system turns up even more and is very audible with up to 37.5 dB(A) under load. The fan noise isn't unpleasant, though.HP 434877-141 The Sony Vaio VPC-W21C7E/G netbook's temperatures are very positive. This is due to the somewhat louder and thus faster rotating fan.HP 448007-001 The case's bottom doesn't heat up much in idle. Thus, it's cool enough to be placed on the lap even in shorts at a temperature of 31.9 degrees Celsius. So, there's nothing standing in the way of summer surfing in the garden.The temperatures didn't increase much under load in the test, either. A maximum of merely 33.2 degrees Celsius are measured here and is still very lap-top usable.EV087AA Both stereo loudspeakers in Sony's netbook don't perform miracles. You only get what you can expect from a netbook - a rather flat sound experience with non-existent basses. External loudspeakers or a headset can be connected over the 3.5 mm jack, which provides a more appealing sound.EX942AA The battery runtimes are determined and measured with the program, BatteryEater. The Reader's Test corresponds to reading document at the lowest brightness level and disabled mobile technologies. The Classic Test simulates loading the computer with maximum display brightness and enabled mobile technologies, and disabled energy saving options.HP HSTNN-IB34 The Sony netbook has a 6 cell battery. It's small enough to not protrude in the back and fits flush. However, the battery life suffers under this savings due to its small size. Thus Reader's Test only recorded a maximum battery life of 3 hours and 55 minutes, whilst the netbook only ran for one hour and 49 minutes under full load. If you compare these rates with other current netbooks, the Sony Vaio VPC-W21C7E/G netbook doesn't look very good. Other netbooks can run for over 9 hours in idle and even over 3 hours under load (also with a 6 cell battery).HP HSTNN-IB40 The Sony netbook's power consumption could be a bit lower in a deactivated state, respectively standby mode. 0.4 watts, respectively 0.8 watts are still relatively high rates. Comparable netbooks manage with 0.1 watts and 0.3 watts here. The power consumption during use in idle mode or under load corresponds to the average of current netbooks. HP HSTNN-LB33 Great looks, which however are noticeable in the priceThe Sony Vaio VPC-W21C7E/G netbook's looks quite appealed to us and even the netbook's manufacturing was impressive. We found the very small keys on the keyboard and the rather short battery life not quite as appealing. Other netbooks do quite a better job with these two points.HP HSTNN-Q21C  Basically, it's not easy to classify the Sony Vaio VPC-W21C7E/G netbook precisely. Not least because of the display's unusually high resolution of 1366x768 pixels. If you put a lot of value on the looks of your device and are prepared to pay a bit more than for comparable devices, you'll likely be happy with the Sony. However, if you want the maximum performance, battery life and other features, you should look elsewhere. DELL Vostro 3500 Battery Not surprisingly, the Latitude E6410 (i7 620M, GMA HD) DELL Vostro 3700 Battery is on about the same level as out tester. But it does worse in terms of runtimes than the R700 due to the smaller battery (60Wh). The Portege R700 is in fact an elegant, slim and sufficiently robust companion for business trips. The fact that the thin design isn't only an advantage is witnessed by the emissions. Under load, our tester can get pretty warm. Acer's test unit looks pretty chunky and weighs in at a hefty 2.11 kilograms. This is very heavy by subnotebook standards. Other 13" laptops in this category typically weigh less than 2 kilograms. The reason for the weight gain can be found with the 8 cell battery, which by itself weighs 425 grams. Dell Inspiron N5010R Battery The casing is suitable for mobile applications as it is very warp resistant. "As strong as steel" would only be one way of describing what we experienced. No matter how hard we tried to bend, flex or pull the base unit, it refused to give an inch. The Acer engineers definitely did their homework while they were working on this 13" colossus. Dell Inspiron N5010D Battery The palm rest impresses with its level of stiffness and refuses to be warped under pressure. All the surfaces, which includes the keyboard, base plate and lid are very solid and don't flex at all. Not even under extreme force. Even the level of stiffness in the middle of the aluminum lid (pressing down), managed to impress us. Dell Inspiron N4010R Battery Consider its thin construction, the lid is very warp resistant. Grabbing it at the corners, we only managed to bend it a little bit. The hinges are mounted firmly to the base plate. The display is held taught. The wobbling screen one may be accustomed to during car and train journeys won't be found here.Dell Inspiron N4010D Battery The protruding 8 cell battery sticks out like a sore thumb. Acer managed to turn a lemon into lemonade however by adding rubber feet to the underside of the battery. This raises the rear of the subnotebook giving it a more ergonomic feel while being used at a table, while also providing good grip while being carried. The battery itself does move slightly when locked into place, but there is no risk of it coming lose at any point.Dell Inspiron N3010R Battery The surface of the workspace is ideal for heavy use. Acer chose to avoid the use of glossy materials throughout. The matt, silver power and WLAN buttons try to provide a little contrast to an otherwise monotone exterior, but don't really succeed. Acer Aspire Timeline 3810T Battery Fingerprint ReaderAcer went for minimalism when deciding on interfaces. Compared to business laptops such as the HP ProBook and Elitebook, which manage to cram in a large variety of interfaces into even the smallest spaces, the TimelineX 8372TG offers next to nothing. The reason for this might be, that there is a docking station which can provide all the interfaces one could ever need while working in an office environment. More about that in the next section.FUJITSU LifeBook T4220 Battery This 13.3" laptop has a DVD drive,DELL XPS L701x battery which is another reason why there is not much room left for other interfaces. Most of the interfaces are on the left side. The rear is occupied by the battery. The positioning of the interfaces seems logical: The VGA is located next to the Easyport IV connector on the left hand side. This prevents thick cables from getting in the way of a "right handed" mouse. For left handed users the VGA cable is most definitely in the way however (not when used in combination with the EasyPort docking solution). The interfaces are located quite far forward. DELL XPS L501x battery A card reader (SD, MMC, MS/Pro, xD), as well as audio ports can be found at the front. Three USB 2.0 ports, a VGA and an Ethernet interface is all you will get at this point. Dell Latitude E6510 Battery The 8372TG is equipped with a Docking-Port for the Acer EasyPort IV interface (roughly 100 Euro). This unit replicates the existing ports as well as providing additional ones such as HDMI and a line-in, while reducing the amount of wires on the table surface. ASUS Eee PC T91 Battery This way users no longer have to connect their peripheral units to the 8372TG one piece at a time. Often it would not be possible to work without the additional interfaces that are provided. The EasyPort IV provides 4 USB-, RJ-45- (LAN), VGA- (D-Sub), DVI (24-pole) and audio ports (line-out, line-in, microphone). The laptop will also be charged through the docking station which is supplied with its own 90W power supply. The Ethernet port has a "passthrough". Asus A42-G73 Battery Acer offers a 2 year warranty for the TravelMates which includes a 1 year international travelers warranty. The 2 years consist of a 1 year product warranty and 1 year advantage warranty.Sony vgp-bps23/w The Keyboard is solid and gives the typist a hard yet quite noticeable keystroke, even if it is very short (approx. 2 millimeters). At first glance, the surface of the keys looks completely level but looking closer one can see there is a slight impression in each key. It is so small however, that it does not help ones fingers to feel their way around the keyboard. Sony VGP-BPS21/B Battery The arrow keys have been squeezed into the right corner of the keyboard and have to share this space with the Euro and Dollar symbols. The enter and shift keys on the other hand are well proportioned. Because of its small size, a number pad is out of the question, but users can use the Fn key to use the "number pad" which can be found in the regular keyboard layout. This can be identified through the blue numbers and calculation symbols. VGP-BPS21A/B The touchpad is made up of a Synaptics-Touch-Pad V7.4 with diameter of 8.5 centimeters.VGP-BPS13B/S Battery The surface is reactive right up to the outer edges. The pad has both vertical and horizontal scroll surfaces (inactive as default). In addition, the multitouch pad will perform all the "multi finger" inputs you are familiar with. We were not as pleased with the short stroke on the two "mouse" buttons. The pressure point is noticeable however, and the clicking noise is nice and subtle.VGP-BPS13B/Q Battery Despite the matt surface, the AUO panel (type B133XW03 V3), doesn't really impress. The 16:9 screen provides a resolution of 1.366 x 768 pixels which is pretty average for this type of screen. Unfortunately, the weak contrast of 166:1 is pretty standard as well. VGP-BPS13A/Q Battery  The colors aren't very radiant and the black colors have a grayish tinge to them. The matt finish is however not the reason for the low contrast levels. A glare type would provide more radiant colors, while not affecting the black (1.13 cd/m²). The small color palette is in line with most laptop displays which are currently on the market and only provides a small section of the Adobe RGB or sRGB range.VGP-BPS13/Q Battery  What this AUO panel is really missing, is a good level of brightness. We measured an average of 182 cd/m². The highest level registered by the Mavo Monitor was an value of 189 cd/m² in the middle of the screen. Considering that this unit may be used outdoors on a regular basis, a value exceeding 230 cd/m² would have been preferable. Never the less, the brightness is very evenly distributed across the screen: 90%.Dell Latitude E5500 Battery Is a display with a matt finish just the right thing for working outdoors? As a matter of fact it is one of the most important things one needs to ensure, that working outdoors, remains a relaxing yet productive experience. No matter which we turned or tilted the 8372TG we only saw very weak reflections. Dell Latitude E5510 Battery  The substandard brightness of 182 cd/m² is, however, simply too low. These pictures show the display during a slightly cloudy day. The illumination is sufficient when looking straight on with indirect sunlight. Looking from the side sees a significantly reduced level of brightness however. If the intensity of the sunlight were to increase, the screen would be too dark to be able to work comfortably. Just like the owners of glare-type screens, it looks like outdoor fans of this unit will have to go and find themselves a shaded corner to sit in.Toshiba PA3591U-1BRS Battery Outdoors - left, direct sunlightThe horizontal viewing angles are quite good. Text is recognizable up to 50 degress away from the ideal, head on viewing angle. The colors start to invert a bit sooner at around 40 degrees. Looking downwards (vertically), one can easily read written text up to an angle of 30 degrees. The brightness on the other hand starts to drop off rapidly once one goes past a 10 degree angle. In strong direct or indirect sunlight, distracting reflections appear on the screen due to the glossiness of the 5745DG's display. Since reflections appear even indoors, you have to either carefully position the angle of the screen or keep the room fairly dark.HP 383965-001 Another fault is the notebook's modest range of viewing angles. Particularly tilting the screen back and forth just a bit can cause colors and brightness to be distorted. This is, however, the case with most current notebooks to date. Horizontally, the viewing angles are a bit better but not exactly mind-blowing. HP 383968-001 In order to guarantee high performance power, the Acer Aspire 5745DG-7744G75Bnks has a quad-core CPU. Thanks to its efficient architecture and various features, the Core i7-740QM is one of the fastest processors currently on the market. With a power consumption of up to 45 watts, it can hardly be called energy efficient—the 774 million transistors and the 6MB of L3 cache make their mark indeed. HP DP390A Since the relatively low standard clock rate of 1.73 GHz can be manually raised to a maximum of 2.93 GHz by means of the Turbo Boost function, lapses in performance are nothing to worry about. Another function is hyperthreading, which simulates four virtual cores. In addition to the four real cores, the Core i7-740QM can thus process eight threads simultaneously, giving a strong performance boost to programs configured to support this function.DP399A In the application benchmarks, the Core i7-740QM makes a very good impression. In single-core rendering of the CPU-stressing Cinebench R10 (64bit) benchmark, the 740QM accumulates 3870 points, putting it on par with the Core i5-460M (3865 points) housed within the less expensive Aspire 745DG-5464G50Mnks. HP 367759-001 Both competitor notebooks have only a dual-core processor (Core i5-430M). Since in most cases it is, however, the graphics card that limits performance with high detail settings on (1366 x 768), the effects of this discrepancy are limited.HP 382552-001 Thanks to the GeForce GT 425M, you can make your way around the city of Empire Bay as the game's protagonist Vito Scaletta and wreak all sorts of havoc. Even with high detail settings and 16x AF (anisotropic filtering), the RPG-shooter ran at a fairly fluid 33.3 fps. The Radeon HD 5650 runs the game 11% more smoothly at 36.8 fps.HP 383493-001 The picturesque racing game, Dirt 2, that takes advantage of DirectX 11 works particularly well with the GeForce 400 series. In fact, the combination of the GeForce GT 425M and the quad-core CPU runs Dirt 2 - set to high details and 2x AA (Antialiasing) - at an astounding 38% more smoothly than the Radeon HD 5650 combined with a dual-core CPU (34.3 to 24.9 fps).HP 391883-001 The performance-demanding first person shooter overwhelms the GeForce GT 425M with high detail settings on. With a poor frame rate of 24 fps with 4x AF, smooth gameplay is completely out of the question. The Radeon HD 5650 also has a hard time with these settings but nevertheless surpasses the GeForce's performance by 17% with a frame rate of 28.1 fps. HP 395751-321 Running the action RPG from developer Piranha Bytes paints the same picture: with high detail settings and 4x AF, the frame rate of 22.2 fps doesn't suffice for smooth gameplay. Risen is one of the few games in which neither the GeForce GT 425M or the Radeon HD 5650 significantly tips the scales, the ATI card being 2% faster at 22.6 fps.HP 396600-001 Except for very graphics-intensive scenes and extreme shootouts or scenes with high levels of smoke, Modern Warfare 2 is completely playable even with high detail settings and 4x AA. The GeForce GT 425M reached on average a value of 33.6 fps. The first person shooter runs even more smoothly on the Radeon HD5650 at 37.9 fps (+13%).HP 396601-001 This year's Fifa is ages ahead of previous years in terms of graphics. And considering the high refresh rates, there's still quite a bit of room for improvement. The GeForce GT 425M runs the game at an astounding 104.1 fps with high detail settings and 2x AA on. The GeForce therefore runs the game 30% faster than the combination of the Radeon HD 5650 and a dual-core processor (80.1 fps).HP 398065-001 With lots of units hustling and bustling around on the screen at once, gaming performance takes a noticeable hit. Mainly because of this, we decided to use the Intro of the challenge, "For the Swarm," in our benchmarks. If the RTS runs smoothly in this case, later missions with a high number of enemies should also run smoothly. The resulting 27 fps from testing the game with high detail settings can be considered a decent refresh rate. The Radeon HD 5650 comes in at 28.0 fps, only 4% faster.HP 398752-001 The post-apocalyptic shooter is definitely among the most hardware-demanding games out now. The soundest proof of this is the unusually bad performance of the GeForce GT 425M. With a resolution of 1600 x 900, high detail settings, AAA (analytical antialiasing), 4x AF and in DirectX 10 mode, the survival shooter runs so choppy at 11.2 fps that the test itself is agonizing. Although on paper the Radeon HD 5650 has a lead of 26%, Metro 2033 runs no more smoothly to the eye at 14.1 fps. HP 398832-001 The developers of Need for Speed Shift have found a good compromise between realism and the feel of an arcade racing game. The GeForce GT 425M brings this combination of appearance and performance to the screen with high detail settings and 4x AA. The table top works with the speakers as a kind of sounding board, so much of the acoustical effect is lost when the netbook is placed on carpet, a lap, or is being carried.Compaq 247050-001 Battery life is very important for a netbook, and generally the best argument for getting an Intel-based system. Run times of from 6 hours (Asus Eee PC 1001P, Samsung NP-NB30, WLAN test) to 10 hours (Acer Aspire One 532, Asus Eee PC 1008P, WLAN test) are the norm. But in terms of overall system performance, an AMD system (Athlon K125, Aspire One 521, 10-inch) is roughly on a level will this Intel hot-shot. Compaq 293343-B25 Compaq 134110-B21 The Ion 2 graphics takes the load of the processor during HD video decoding and encoding (HDMI port). If you are looking for a mobile video player with HD Ready resolution (1,366 x 768), the VX6 offers exactly the right hardware. Except - the glossy screen with its low brightness is not much fun in the sun. The bog-standard screen’s limited viewing angles make matters worse. But appropriately for an entertainment machine, the small speakers produce a balanced sound quality which even has hints of bass.Compaq 182281-001 The miniature racing car gets top marks for ergonomics, as it stays extremely quiet and cool even under heavy stress. The keyboard gives strong feedback and is suitable for typing emails and longer texts. The touchpad, unfortunately, is so smooth and apt to get greasy that we would recommend using an external mouse. Compaq 346970-001 The high-quality appearance of the Lamborghini design is spoiled a little by the sight of the glossy lid covered in fingerprints. But the matt internal surfaces, the extremely rigid chassis and the small Lamborghini details produce a sophisticated overall impression. As for the ports, speed is the name of the game with two USB 3.0 ports. Also the 2,048 MB of DDR3 RAM is all in one socket, so the second could easily be filled to take you up to 4 GB. But at this point at the latest you would want to upgrade to the 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium. Compaq 346970-001 In the realms of the Atom-based netbooks there are few alternatives at present. The Eee PC 1215N (12.1 inches) is the VX6’s equal in terms of hardware and costs €500. In our comprehensive tests the 1215N matched the VX6 in practically every way. So anyone who is not interested in all the Lamborghini trimmings can save themselves €100. Another recent addition to the market is the Eee PC 1201PN with Ion 2. But this 12.1-inch netbook only has the usual netbook processor, the Intel Atom N450, and no DDR3 memory.Compaq 367759-001 Acer has reinstated its Aspire One 532g with supplementary Ion 2 graphics, and apart from that only offers the Aspire Revo R3700 in the same configuration (mini-desktop). Samsung scores with design, but misses a sprighty configuration and good display. Low waste heat and system noise are convincing, four hours of battery life grant mobility. Skepticism is always a wise trait, since alone for marketing reasons, a Dual-Core sells itself better than a single core processor. The construction has nothing left in common with the barebone from the Aspire One 533 (N455), with the exception of the form factor and the FineTip keyboard. It is much more closely related to the Aspire One 521 (AMD K125) family. Asus A31-1015 Battery The style of the shapes has once again ended up more edgy, corners are no longer so well rounded, and the lid is attached lower. Remained has the relatively thin lid, and the frontally tapered chassis. Asus AL31-1015 Battery The bottom consists out of a single homogeneous plate as with the One 533, which can only be removed after removing the keyboard. Underneath are the 2.5 inch hard drive, the RAM, and the WLAN module (Mini PCI Express). An attempt to access these already failed at the keyboard stage though, due to the fact that the small plastic latches couldn't be released.Asus A32-1015 Battery The plastic case does not have very good stability though. Using both hands and a little strength it was possible to bend the base unit significantly. Depending on the held area this can also lead to cracking sounds. Pressure on the petite palm resting area shows a clear indentation on the right. The base plate in contrast is resilient to our bending attempts.Asus PL32-1015 Battery The AMD sister-model One 521 (K125) has got a more stable and thicker chassis, despite of optical similarities. Also the access to the components is handled differently, which is more classical via the base plate. Asus Eee PC 1015 Battery The lid can be opened to almost 180 degrees. This makes reading documents or websites easier when wanting or having to hold the Mini upright. The right angled hinges are firmly attached to the base unit, and we needed both hands to open the lid because they were so rigid. In return the display does not wobble on a train or in a car on journeys. Asus Eee PC 1015PE Battery The high-gloss optics with a metallic effect (lid) is less favorable in our opinion. The surfaces are quickly covered in smudges and finger prints. Acer doesn't let users down though, and provides a polishing cloth for this. The Aspire One logo unfortunately doesn't make as much of a qualitative impression as on the One 521 (AMD version), where the logo is integrated into the surface.Asus Eee PC 1016 Battery The D255 has the usual simplicity of netbook-modesty. The visible interfaces consist of three USB 2.0 ports, a CardReader (SD/MMC), the VGA socket (D-Sub), a RJ45 for Ethernet network connections, and two small jack sockets for headphones and a microphone. An appealing detail are the metal reinforced audio ports. With these the jack plugs are relatively well protected against breaking. Asus Eee PC 1016P Battery The inconspicuous webcam in the display frame can take pictures with a resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels (4:3, 1.3 MP). This is comparatively good. Netbooks by Samsung and Sony only offer a VGA resolution (640 x 480) in general. Videos can be recorded with the aforementioned VGA quality. Asus Eee PC 1215 Battery Next to WLAN draft-N (Atheros AR5B95) there is also Bluetooth and a fast Ethernet controller in the case. The Bluetooth module supports the newest standard 3.0+HDR. The Broadcom module contains a high-speed channel in addition to the 2.1+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate). Asus Eee PC 1215N Battery With this the transfer rates should be able to reach 24 Mbit/s. This is however not the case for the LAN controller, that does not support the high bit rates of Gigabit LAN (Atheros AR8152). An integrated 3G module would be very beneficial for the mobile capabilities of the D255. Such a model variant is not available so far. ASUS G73J Battery When it comes to software the manufacturer stays true to itself, and doesn't provide a driver or recovery DVD. The latter should be burned with an external optical drive by the user using eRecovery Management. The operating system comes with the usual recovery partition on the hard drive. The ergonomic key data is good (temperature, system noise) and the touchpad is compliant. The 15.6 incher remains quiet, or just audible, at every time. Unfortunately, the keyboard fails in every average typing demand because it yields and thus gives a spongy feel. In return, the layout including a number pad is successful.DELL Vostro 3500 Battery The 15.6 incher's battery life doesn't meet the expectations. Two and a half hours of WLAN surfing or two hours of DVD playback isn't great. It also has a reflective and too dark display that makes working in sunlight difficult.DELL Vostro 3700 Battery If you aren't dependent on gaming performance and high mobility, you'll get a fair offer in the Aspire 5552G. The 15.6 incher is available for a bit less than 600 euro. Alternatives with stronger graphics cards (HD 5650) and quad/triple core CPUs (Phenom II X4 N930, X3 N830) can also be found on virtual shelves.DELL XPS 14 Battery The hardware is just right for starters: Office computing power with Athlon II P340 and a bit of gaming with ATI's HD 5470.The connectivity turns out modest. The buyer gets a four GB DDR3 RAM and a 320 GB hard disk aside an Intel Pentium P6100 processor for this price. For a surcharge of merely 40 euro, you can buy the AH530MF112DE that we reviewed. It also has a four GB DDR3 RAM and a 250 GB HDD. However, it can serve with the significantly stronger Core i3-370M (2.40 GHz) as the processor.DELL Inspiron 17R Battery And finally, the current top model, AH530MF122DE, adds up to a price of about 830 euro. While the RAM capacity remains unvaried, the hard disk size increases to 500 GB. Further configuration features are a Core i5-460M processor with 2.53 GHz and a built-in Blu-Ray player. DELL Inspiron N7010 Battery All models have the graphics card in common: ATI's Mobility Radeon HD 550v promises enough power for casual gamers. If you're not dependent on a dedicated graphics card, you might also be content with the Lifebook A530 (without an "H" in the name). You can find the corresponding review on our site.Dell Inspiron 13R Battery High-gloss finishWe would describe the Lifebook AH530's design as chic. Fujitsu unexceptionally uses black plastic surfaces in a piano lacquer look, which make a fairly elegant impression. Dell Inspiron N3010 Battery This remark however only applies when the notebook is perfectly polished. That is, the sensitive high-gloss surfaces tend to smudge intensely. Fingerprints and dust particles soon have the upper hand. The 15.6 inch and 378 x 252 x 39 mm sized case can make up for this imperfection with its pleasant weight. The Lifebook AH530 can be carried around easily with about 2.5 kg.Dell Inspiron N3010D-148 Battery Another of the Lifebook AH530's strengths is its exceptionally good workmanship. No flaws could be found even as we looked closer. At least the base unit's stability is convincing. Dell Inspiron N3010D-168 Battery The notebook's top and bottom side only yield slightly even under strong pressure. The lid could have done with more stability. Pressure on the display bezel quickly leads to image errors. Finally, the hinges do a good job. The display is kept well in position on vibrating surfaces. However, the hinges are pulled very tight so that the base unit lifts when opened.Dell Inspiron N3010D-178 Battery Dell Inspiron N3010R Battery You shouldn't expect a lavish scope of supplies to come with the Lifebook AH530. Fujitsu restricts itself to the most important interfaces. Firewire, eSATA or USB 3.0 ports are looked for in vain. While the rear is completely unfettered from connections, there is a multi-in-1 cardreader, as well as a headphone and microphone socket installed on the front. A USB 2.0 port, a Kensington lock and the power socket follow on the rightDell Inspiron 14R Battery Fujitsu has however placed most connections on the left side.Dell Inspiron N4010 Battery Aside from an RJ-45 LAN port and a VGA, respectively HDMI out, there are two additional USB 2.0 ports (a total of 3 USB 2.0 ports) found on the left. Basically, we consider the port distribution as partly well-considered. Particularly the HDMI out and the USB ports are located very far front.Dell Inspiron N4010D Battery Wireless communication is no problem with the Lifebook AH530.
